SRI LANKA YOGA ESCAPE
BALAPITIYA AND KANDY, SRI LANKA
MARCH 1 - 11, 2020
AWAKEN YOUR SENSES
Soak up the sun on a private paradise beach, as you do yoga next to an infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and then journey into the atmospheric heights of Ceylon tea stations to an award-winning 5-star Ayurveda spa and wellness resort. Both our locations are intimate with a refined, distinct style, designed by world-renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffery Bawa. We invite you to awaken the senses, mind, body and soul on this handcrafted and utterly unique Sri Lankan holiday.
KUMMU BEACH: SUNSHINE & CULTURE
Beneath gently swaying coconut palms on a serene, private boulder-sprinkled seafront is a boutique guesthouse, Kumu Beach, our home for 5 nights. Luxuriate in their indulgent suites, that open onto rolling lawns with ocean views, and the infinity pool deck, where we’ll have our twice daily yoga sessions. This is chic living, Sri Lankan style, with divine authentic cuisine and personalised service. Whilst here, we’ll venture into Galle Fort to peruse the ancient sights and shop the beautiful locally created arts and crafts, and spend our last afternoon on a private sunset cruise.
SANTANI: ZEN, NATURE & AYERVEDA
Named for the Sanskrit word meaning “in harmony with,” Santani was crafted with the belief that sustainable wellness begins by bringing oneself into balance with nature. The principle of harmony guides everything at this Zen-inspired award-winning 5-star eco-lodge. From the Bawa architecture that blends into the lush hills, peppered with organic tea plantations, to the locally-sourced Ayurvedic cuisine and spa, every detail here is refined and nurturing. Our 5 nights here will include yoga in an open-air yoga pavilion, fine-dining with careful attention from Santani’s Micheline star chef, and a tour of Ceylon tea plantations.
FLOW OF THE DAY
We awake at leisure and enjoy fresh fruit and ginger tea on the veranda. We’ll convene for a soulful vinyasa flow session in nature with Nina, followed by a delicious breakfast brimming with the freshest seasonal ingredients. In Sri Lankan tradition, we end breakfast savouring the finest local tea or coffee.
On some days we enjoy free time to soak up the sunshine near the pool, take a refreshing dip in the ocean, indulge in an afternoon siesta, or curl up with a good book in your suite. On other days we have cultural experiences, including to local historic forts and temples, and the famous Kandy tea stations.
To honour the passing of the day we are guided in a relaxing yin yoga and meditation session with Nina. After our yoga practice, we’ll meet for a pre-dinner cocktail and bask in the beautiful lavender and mauve light of dusk. As night falls we enjoy a gourmet meal together, before drifting into deep, restful sleep.
YOGA ON THIS RETREAT
Well-traveled nomad, Nina Butler, weaves breath, strength, flexibility and awareness into a moving meditation that accommodates beginners and advanced practitioners. While her practice is strong, her teaching is sensitive and heart-oriented, supporting students to move within their personal pace and rhythm. Nina also shares mindfulness practices, meditations, and soul-soothing yin sessions to cultivate the perfect balance on your retreat between uplifting flow, and introspective restoration.

If you cancel your participation in a retreat for any reason, the cancellation policy below will apply, with no exceptions. We wish we could compensate people for unforeseen circumstances (injury, family emergency, etc), but we have costs already incurred when reserving retreat centers and hotels. We have designed our cancellation policy to be as compassionate as possible in the case that your plans change. But to protect yourself further, we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance.

IF WE CANCEL THE RETREAT
We have never had to cancel a retreat, however, if we do cancel a trip due too few participants, we will refund to you all deposits and payments you have paid. We cannot however compensate you for airfare or travel costs incurred. In the unlikely event that Exotic Yoga Retreats must cancel a yoga retreat due to weather, natural disaster or political upheaval, we cannot guarantee a refund – it will be depending on receiving a refund from the venue / tour operator we work with. To cover these risks, we highly recommend you purchase travel insurance.
The best way to protect yourself from any unforeseen circumstance is to purchase trip insurance. Depending on the type of Travel Insurance, it can protect you in case of:
you cancel your participation in the yoga retreat
the retreat is cancelled due to weather, natural disaster, or not enough participants to run the trip
medical expenses and the cost of repatriation should you become ill or injured
